TFA TRAINING AND LAPSED TEACHER CERTIFICATE!
Louisiana's State Evaluator Only Has TFA Training
Another Teach for America executive in Louisiana, is now in a position to evaluate "REAL"
teachers. She is a non-certified teacher with only 2 years experience, and that is teaching based
on a crash course training through TFA? What about the Praxis? Did she take it ?
I wonder if her two years of teaching was evaluated?
http://theadvocate.com/home/4004848-125/evaluator-defends-not-renewing-own
But let us also remember that; the person who developed the evaluation program for
Louisiana and who trained principals on how to evaluate teachers, had NO teaching
experience at all and NO training in education!
Interesting, very interesting!!

BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS!!
A Fresh School Year
School clothes check, school supplies check, school buses picking up students check, ringing of school bells check, smell of cafeteria food check and Friday night football double check. All of this and many more are the beginning of a new school year. This is also a reminder about dues. NO money from local, state or national dues go towards national campaigns. Example of this: The presidential election. Money for national campaigns come from a separate PAC which is voluntary. In Louisiana, all of the Louisiana Association of Educators' PAC money is for Louisiana politics only. GET THE FACTS: If you have any questions contact the LAE office for more information.

Teacher Contracts
Executive Director of Personnel and Acadia Association Members Meet
On Friday, August 10, 2012 Acadia Parish Executive Director of Personnel, Mrs. Ellan Kay Baggett met with Acadia Association of Educators officers and Marcus Thomas, UniServ Director. The Acadia Parish Association of Educators is the local affiliation of the Louisiana Association of Educators.Louisiana Association of Educators is proactive on teacher contracts. New legislation passed Act 1 that states compensation, salary, number of days and number of hours will not be definite unless specified in a contract. Today we proposed our contract language to Acadia Parish Executive Director of Personnel Ellan K. Baggett who was very helpful in our early stages of agreeing on a future final product.

Getting the Jump on New Enrollments
BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!We all have so much to do in so little time before school starts. Some of the following may be racing through the minds of teachers:
- My classroom is done. At least I thought so. I have 28 students and 23 desks. Where am I suppose to put 5 more desks?
- Did I remember to post my classroom expectations and consequences where they are visible to all?
- Am I ready for the new Core Curriculum?
- Act 1, Act 2, Bulletin 130 what are they talking about ?
- What in the world does "At Will Teacher" mean?
- I thought I would be tenured after teaching this school year?
- When can I enroll in that very active Teachers' Union?
SORRY WE DID NOT HAVE ANY IDEAS WHERE TO PUT THE FIVE EXTRA DESKS!! :)
