A Fresh School Year

School clothes check, school supplies check, school buses picking up students check, ringing of school bells check, smell of cafeteria food check and Friday night football double check. All of this and many more are the beginning of a new school year.
This is also a reminder about dues. NO money from local, state or national dues go towards national campaigns. Example of this: The presidential election. Money for national campaigns come from a separate PAC which is voluntary. In Louisiana, all of the Louisiana Association of Educators' PAC money is for Louisiana politics only. GET THE FACTS: If you have any questions contact the LAE office for more information.
Acadia Association of Educators would like to wish everyone a happy and successful school year. <span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Executive Director of Personnel and Acadia Association Members Meet

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">On Friday, August 10, 2012 Acadia Parish Executive Director of Personnel, Mrs. Ellan Kay Baggett met with Acadia Association of Educators <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">officers and Marcus Thomas, UniServ Director. The Acadia Parish Association of Educators is the local affiliation of the Louisiana Association of Educators.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Louisiana Association of Educators is proactive on teacher contracts. New legislation passed Act 1 that states compensation, salary, number of days and number of hours will not be definite unless specified in a contract. Today we proposed our contract language to Acadia Parish Executive Director of Personnel Ellan K. Baggett who was very helpful in our early stages of agreeing on a future final product.
Getting the Jump on New Enrollments

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">We all have so much to do in so little time before school starts. Some of the following may be racing through the minds of teachers:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">My classroom is done. At least I thought so. I have 28 students and 23 desks. Where am I suppose to put 5 more desks?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Did I remember to post my classroom expectations and consequences where they are visible to all?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Am I ready for the new Core Curriculum?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Act 1, Act 2, Bulletin 130 what are they talking about ?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">What in the world does "At Will Teacher" mean?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I thought I would be tenured after teaching this school year?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">When can I enroll in that very active Teachers' Union?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Well, today Acadia Association of Educators helped eased the minds of the new teachers in Acadia Parish. The Acadia Association members: Mona Prudhomme, Donna Wilridge, Cordelia Pizzalotto, Leana Miller and Uniserve Director, Marcus Thomas met with the new teachers during their back to school Technology Workshop and were successful recruiting new members.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">SORRY WE DID NOT HAVE ANY IDEAS WHERE TO PUT THE FIVE EXTRA DESKS!! :)
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
